Our Day

Our Day

Our days are always evolving, depending on the children’s needs, ages, interests, and abilities. I will revise our schedule daily to best suit their needs.  Below are few examples of what we like to include in each day.

INDOOR FREE PLAY:

Children can choose from several toys and activities that encourage fine motor development, creative and imaginative thinking, and promote positive social interactions (talking, singing, listening, sharing, etc). Indoor free play activities and toys include but are not limited to: stacking/sorting toys, activity tables, cars, building blocks, instruments, books, and puzzles. Depending on what time children are being dropped off / picked up and the activity level of the children a portion of free play may be spent outdoors or in the indoor activity room for gross motor play.

MORNING MEETING:

Children meet in a circle to participate in a morning routine which includes activities related to the weather, days of the week, and a new daily topic. Morning meetings conclude with song, dance and / or mindful yoga.

CREATIVE TIME:

Children participate in group and individual activities that focus on cognitive and fine motor skills. Lessons and activities include crafts, coloring, letter / number recognition activities, and sensory table. Depending on the activity we are doing we may be either indoors or outdoors.

OUTDOOR EXPLORATION:

Weather permitting, children will be taken outdoors to explore nature and enjoy gross motor play. Gross motor play will be a combination of organized group activities such as a scavenger hunts, organized sports, or obstacle courses as well as free play time where children can use the equipment and discover on their own. Should weather conditions be deemed inclement children will participate in gross motor play activities in our indoor gym.

ACTIVE STORYTIME:

I read or tell stories that encourage children's participation through use of repetition, songs, and movement.
